Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Within the contract for participation in the BID program patients gave their written informed consent to participate in the study, while the inpatient participants gave their written informed consent separately from the hospital’s admission contract. Although we are submitting an empirical study involving human patients there have been no ethical conflicts that had to be addressed since all procedures within study participation were part of the standard diagnostic procedure in our clinic. The appropriate institution is the University of Muenster, Germany, clinical ethics committee. Standards of good clinical practice and the demands of the Declaration von Helsinki were fulfilled.
