: The NHS Lothian Health Board Quality Improvement programme provided approval for this study. This was deemed appropriate, as the study involved enhancement of routine clinical practice. In Ward A, where participants attending groups also completed measures of well-being, written consent was obtained. For all other parts of the study, verbal consent was considered appropriate and sufficient.
