: The Friendship Bench for adolescents protocol was subject to review and authorisation by institutional review boards (IRBs) of the Research Council of Zimbabwe, the Medical Research Council of Zimbabwe, the Joint Research Ethics Committee for the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences and the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as well as King’s College London. Written informed consent was sought prior to all participants’ enrolment into the study. All participants aged 16–17 years required both written parental or caregiver’s and the adolescent’s written consent for participation. This study was perfomred in accordance with the declaration of Helsinki and ahdered to the CONSORT (Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials) guidelines to ensure transparent and comprehensive reporting.
