Parents and adolescents were informed about the study and the voluntary nature of participation. Adolescents who completed the questionnaire thereby provided informed consent. The study was conducted under GDPR Article 6(1)(e) and Section 10 of the Danish Data Protection Act. It was approved by the Centre for Suicide Research (protocol j.nr. 2021.01). In Denmark, questionnaire-based studies fall outside the scope of the Danish Act on Research Ethics Review of Health Research Projects (Komitéloven, LBK nr. 1268 af 28/11/2024) and therefore do not require ethical committee approval.
