Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This study was made in the frame of the project “Health Protection and Safety on Board Ships” (acronym: HEALTHY SHIP).It was submitted to the Ethic, Scientific and Medical Committee of CIRM Foundation that approved it (Approval No. 01/2013 of 31 January 2013).Seafarers gave their written informed consent to the CIRM for the treatment of their medical data as well as for the use of these data in anonymous form for research purposes, related to investigate health conditions of seafarers and for epidemiological studies. The above Ethic Committee approved the method of consent and the consent form to propose to seafarers.
