: JD is a Postgraduate Researcher who conducts research into the optimal use of FIT in screening and symptomatic populations. RO’C is a Professor in Psychology and a Clinical and Health Psychologist who is interested in behaviour, health, disease and medicine. JC is an Honorary Research Fellow and Health Psychologist interested in behaviour, health, disease and medicine. RJCS is a Professor of Surgery and is Director of the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme and Chair of the UK National Screening Committee.
: The study will be conducted in accordance with the principles of good clinical practice (GCP). Ethical approval and NHS R&D approval has been granted by East of Scotland Research Ethics Service, ref.: 18/ES/0012. The Ethics Committee advised that return of the study questionnaire should be considered as implied consent and that verbal consent will be obtained from participants taking part in telephone interviews. The consent form will be read and audio recorded along with patient replies which will be ticked on paper.
