Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study has obtained approval from the institutional review boards of the Kenyatta National Hospital - University of Nairobi, Kenya (P557/08/2018) and the University of Manitoba – Health Research Ethics Board, Canada (HS22205). All participants will provide written informed consent. Participants in the age group 15–17 years were considered mature minors and included for the baseline and endline survey. This inclusion criterion aligns with the national HTS guidelines, which stipulate the minimum age for HIV testing without parental/ guardian consent as 15 years. This was approved by local ethics committee.
