Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval for this study was obtained from the Ethics Committee for Research Involving Human Subjects, University Putra Malaysia (UPM/TNCPI/RMC/JKEUPM/ 1.4.18.1/F1). Before the commencement of the study, verbal permission from the principals of each selected child care centers in Petaling District was obtained after informing the objectives of the study and their right to remain or opt out of the study if they feel uncomfortable. Participants’ consent form and questionnaires used in the survey were mailed to the principals to seek their permission over the phone. Since mothers were the respondents of the study, so only verbal consent was obtained from the principals with the approval by the ethics committee. Informed content via a written consent form was also obtained from the respondents prior to data collection. Confidentiality of the respondents’ answers was guaranteed.
