Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The research protocol was approved by Institute of Health Research Board (IRB) of Jimma University. After obtaining permission from the prison; the selected participants were called by with the help of prison official to quite place prepared for interview. Participants were given adequate information about the objective of the study and how anonymities will be ensured while encouraging them for genuine responses. The name and other personal identifications were excluded from the questionnaire to ensure confidentiality. Finally; informed verbal consent was sought from all participants before running the interview. Verbal consent was employed in this study for its convenience in such self-reported survey and this was approved by the IRB so far. Participants had given the right to decline to participate or to stop responding to the interview if they felt discomfort. Luckily; none of them were found to decline taking part in the study.
