Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study obtained Institutional Review Board approval at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York (Protocol #1809008284) and from the National Institute for Medical Research, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania (NIMR/HQ/R.8a/Vol.IX/2526) prior to the start of recruitment. Written consent is obtained from all women interested in joining the study. Women consent for their child’s participation in the study. If a woman is between 16 and 18 years of age, a relative over the age of 18 must co-sign to indicate consent.
