Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was approved by the Ethical Committee of The Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education, in Katowice, under reg. no 2/2008. All the participants, their parents, and school administrators consented to the research in writing. At the beginning, the participants received detailed information on data confidentiality and security in Indares and on the way of data processing and publishing. The participants could quit PA monitoring any time during the research. Loss of pedometers was not sanctioned at all. All the participants obtained individual feedback on their weekly PA composition and summary aggregated information on rates of meeting the steps/day recommendation by boys and girls in their class, as did school administration.
