Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The survey data used in the analysis for this manuscript was secondary data from the Australian Health Survey (AHS) 2011–2013. The survey data was originally collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics <b>under the legislated Australian Government Census and Statistics Act 1905.</b>The ABS is authorised to conduct the household interview components of the survey under the <i>Census and Statistics Act 1905</i><b>with no requirement for ethics approval.</b> The protocols for the optional voluntary biomedical <b>sample collection was</b> approved by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing Departmental Ethics Committee. Please note that no biomedical data was used in this analysis. The Chief Statistician at the Australian Bureau of Statistics manages the AHS data informed by two laws: the Census and Statistics Act 1905 and the Privacy Act 1988. Data is stored by the ABS in Confidentialised Unit Record Files (CURF). Access to the data is restricted to authorised users only.Authorisation to access data from the AHS CURF related to the National Nutritional and Physical Activity Survey (NNPAS) and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey NATSINPAS was gained from the ABS on January 19, 2017. All data analysis was completed online in a secure ABS DataLab platform. All analytical output used in this manuscript was checked and cleared by the ABS before release.
