Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study protocol was reviewed and approved by Emory University’s Institutional Review Board, the Santo André municipal government, and <i>Plataforma Brasil</i>, the Brazilian national Institutional Review Board (CAAE 57344616.0.0000.5484). Personnel obtained written informed consent from all participants and assured participants that they could withdraw from the study at any time. All data were kept confidential and there was minimal risk associated with participation. At the end of the interview all participants received VAW-related materials including educational pamphlets and contact information for local resources.
