Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The protocol was reviewed and approved by International Center for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh’s institutional review board (IRB). We obtained permission from the Divisional Secondary and Primary Education Office at Dhaka to conduct intervention activities in the schools. All participants provided informed written consent or assent (< 16 years old) for participation in the study. For participants < 16 years old we took informed written consent from parents. Field researchers explained study objectives, activities, anonymity, and confidentiality to the participants and assured them that they could withdraw at any time. Our study carried no notable physical or psychological harm to the participants.
