Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study has been approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Benin Ethics Committee CER-ISBA – APPROVAL N° 30 of 03/12/2013, Institutional Review Board No. 00006860. Each interviewed person was informed about the objectives of the study, the types of collected data and was asked to sign a document of informed consent. Each person was informed that we would complete a questionnaire to study the care needs of Cotonou populations and the treatment methods used in families to treat themselves. They were informed that they could interrupt the interview at any time if they wished. There were no samples taken for diagnostic purposes. All questionnaires were anonymous.
