Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study protocol was submitted to and approved by the Ethics Committee of Walailak University (approval number: WUEC-19-033-01). All the study participants were informed of the purpose of the study and their right to refuse participation. Written informed consent was obtained prior to the interview and sample collection. Elderly individuals infected with hookworms, <i>S. stercoralis</i> and <i>T. trichiura</i>, were treated with the recommended dosage of albendazole for each parasite.
