Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The ethical approval for the study was obtained from the Senate Research and Publication Committee, the Institutional Review Board of Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. Written informed consent was obtained from each participant before enrolment. Each participant was provided with a description of the aim of the study, potential benefits and risks, blood collection procedures and assurance of confidentiality. Participants who were found with any of screened pathogens were referred to the Muhimbili National hospital for further management. All clients’ information and test results were confidentially kept.
