Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This study was assessed by the Danish Committee of Multipractice Studies in General Practice (MPU 14–2019), who recommended the study to general practices. According to the Danish Regional Ethics Committee, this study was deemed non-interventional and therefore no ethical permission was required. Prior to their interviews, all participants signed informed consent forms.We recruited participants who had not been invited to participate in a cardiovascular prevention initiative to emphasise that the interview was about their experiences of living with T2D and not whether they had participated or rejected such an initiative at some point in the past.
