Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The research protocol was approved by the ethical committee of the <i>Université de Montréal</i> (<i>Comité d’éthique de la recherché en santé</i>, #16–160-CERES-P). The ethic approval covers all participants regardless of the school they attend. Consent was obtained for all study participants. In all partner schools, FitSpirit participants aged 14 years and older are eligible for the study if they provide written consent. Participants younger than 14 have to provide one parent’s written informed consent. Information and consent form is available online () and are in agreement with provincial law regarding the age for the consent [].Any substantive modification to the protocol will require a formal amendment that will be agreed upon by FitSpirit and the <i>Université de Montréal</i>, and approved by the Ethics Committee.
