: This study was assessed by the Non-Medical Human Research Ethics Committee at the University of the Witwatersrand (H19/02/25), which determined that the study meets the criteria for exemption of approval. The research was determined to meet the criteria for exemption because the wall posts were retrieved from a public Facebook group that is accessible to anyone. By joining the public group, the members had accepted that they were openly contributing to a discussion on sexuality that could be seen by anyone. Nonetheless, this study complied with all ethical standards both in the retrieval and analysis of the data. Precisely, written permission was obtained from the creator of the group before data retrieval, and all quotes have been paraphrased to anonymize the group.
