: This study corresponds to a secondary data analysis of the Portuguese National Tuberculosis Surveillance System (SVIG-TB) dataset, which is supervised by the Directorate General of Health (Direção Geral da Saúde, DGS). The DGS provides anonymized data for epidemiological research, which implies the removal of any personal data, therefore informed consent was not required. The study received approval from the research ethics committee of the Administração Regional de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo (Reference 3514/CES/2019).
