: The project was approved by the University of Queensland Human Research Ethics Committee (Approval number 2020000800) with reciprocal human ethics approvals were acquired from investigators’ respective institutions: Darling Downs Health Service, Flinders University, The University of Melbourne, La Trobe University, Deakin University, James Cook University, The University of Western Australia and Torrens University. The ethics committees approved verbal consent, aware that the research was being undertaken in the first year of COVID-19 when many services were not available and people were confined to their homes. Consent processes included initial email contact which included information and a participant information sheet before any contact by phone or videoconference to set up the interview. A deliberate process of informed consent occurred at the beginning of the interview and was recorded.Potential participants were e-mailed information about the study including a plain language statement and invited to participate. They were them contacted by phone to talk about the study and arrange an appropriate time for interview. At the time on the interview the script was “HelloX, I amY, and I am part of the research team for the Covid-19 collaborative project. Thank you for agreeing to speak to me about your experiences of the pandemic. Before we start, I would like to cover an important point. I do need to record the interview, and I need to you to state out loud that you consent to both the interview and to being recorded. Can you do that? [Press record and obtain verbal consent].”
