: The study protocol was approved by University of Liverpool Veterinary Research Ethics Committee (VREC334). Informed consent was obtained from all subjects. Households received an information flyer detailing the study at least a week before data collection began. Participants consented by completing and returning the questionnaires by post. No dogs were handled. All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations (Declaration of Helsinki).
