: The quantitative survey used in this study (NDHS 2016) received ethical approval from Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) and reviewed by the ICF International institutional review board. We performed secondary analysis of the NDHS datasets, and the original survey received the written informed consent for all the participants.
: The qualitative study was approved by the Nepal Health Research Council on July 2, 2018, and Family Health International (FHI) 360’s Protection of Human Subject Committee (PHSC) on November 21, 2018. Informed consent was obtained from all study participants for both interviews and recordings. Individual’s autonomy and confidentiality was ensured throughout the research process.
