: The BHIS 2018 was carried out in line with the Belgian privacy legislation and has been approved by the ethics committee of the University hospital of Ghent on December, 20th 2017 (advice EC UZG 2017/1454). The participation to BHIS is voluntary. There was no formal written and signed consent foreseen as participation was considered as consent. The data of the BHIS are pseudonomysed, and the pseudonymisation key is stored by Statistics Belgium. Data analysis for the current study took place via Sciensano’s secured file server, and fell under Sciensano’s mandate to analyse the BHIS data.
