: We confirm that the data management and all analyses were carried out in accordance with the relevant research ethics guidelines and principles such as the principles of Ethical Decision-Making and Internet Research (published in the International Encyclopedia of Social and Behavioral Sciences []) and the Ethical Principles of Research with Human Participants and Ethical Review in the Human Sciences in Finland (by the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity TENK []). The analysis of this study was conducted with respect for the dignity of all subjects. We confirm that we have carefully considered all the relevant legislation in Finland, as we have described in more detail in the material and methods section. Most importantly, the present study does not fall under the scope of the Finnish Medical Research Act and Decree [], nor does Tampere University require a review by an ethics board as our research does not include medical research. Consequently, ethical review was not compulsory.Due to the total anonymity and the very large number of posts and commenters every day on the vauva.fi platform, it is evident that the study may not lead to identification of any single parent or commenter and consequently cause harm to the discussion participants. Therefore, ethical review was determined as not providing significant backup for the ethicality of the research. As regards the consent to participate, it was not possible to contact the individuals whose posts were included in the study since they were all anonymous users on the platform. Consequently, it was impossible to obtain informed consent. To conclude, based on the information above, we confirm that all methods were carried out in accordance with the relevant guidelines and regulations.
