: Approval for analysis of the de-identified cohort was granted by the Human Research Ethics Committee of the University of the Witwatersrand (Protocol No. M2111121 MED21-11-069).In accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki, we obtained informed consent from participants through a detailed consent form. The form outlined the study’s purpose, procedures, and potential risks and benefits, and participants had the opportunity to ask questions before and after completing the screening questionnaire or consent form. Consent was indicated through electronic signatures, with paper-based forms available as backups. The process was explained in the participants’ preferred language, but the electronic declaration was in English. Participants could request a digital copy of the consent form for their records. They were also informed of their right to withdraw from the study at any time, and if they chose to do so, their data was promptly removed and excluded from the analysis.
