: The PANIC study is registered at ExternalRef removed (No. NCT01803776). The Research Ethics Committee of the Hospital District of Northern Savo approved the study protocol in 2006 (Statement 69/2006). At baseline and 2-year follow-up, the parents and/or caregivers of the children provided their written informed consent, and the children provided their assent to participation. At 8-year follow-up, the parents and/or caregivers and the adolescents gave their written informed consent. The PANIC study has been carried out in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki as revised in 2008.
