: The current study was conducted after getting ethical approval from the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University (reference number: 027/22/SPH). Then, PMA-Ethiopia project data owners were requested to share the quantitative data. The qualitative data were collected after getting permission from concerned offices in SNNP and Oromia regions. As study participants were infants who were incapable of giving informed consent, written informed consent was sought from their mother/guardian after the study aims and benefits were explained. Similarly, written informed consent was obtained from the same mothers of infants for their participation too. Mothers were approached in a language they were comfortable with (Amharic or Afan Oromo). Mothers were guaranteed confidentiality by not showing their identity to anyone other than members of the research team. Mothers were informed that their participation was based on their willingness, and they could withdraw or stop their data from the study at any time without affecting their relationship with the research team.
