The Principal Investigators from each country obtained approval to conduct the HBSC survey from an ethical and/or a national data protection agency as required by ethical regulations. Informed consent of parents (or guardians) and the adolescents participating in the study was required in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Sweden. Active consent of parents (or guardians) and the adolescents participating in the study was required in Norway.
: Before deciding to participate in the HBSC study, students were informed that the overall purpose of the HBSC study was to report and analyze adolescents health and well-being. The data used in the current study do not compromise participant anonymity.
