: This study was submitted to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Jimma University and the Scientific and Ethical Review Office (SERO) of the Ethiopian Public Health Institute for ethical review and approval. Accordingly, ethical approval was obtained from both institutions with reference numbers IHRPGD/320/18 and EPHI 6.13/592 respectively. The official support letters used to conduct the study were also obtained from SNNPR RHB and the Silti Zonal Health Office. All participants in the study were provided with clear and adequate information regarding TB and were included in the current study. Additionally, written informed consent was obtained from all index cases and household contacts, including minors through their parents or guardians. We strictly maintained confidence in the individual records. Children aged five years or younger were provided with TB preventive therapy, and confirmed TB patients were treated with standard TB treatment according to the national guidelines. The geographic coordinates of the households were taken from approximately 20 m away from the gate to prevent identification.
