: Until 1996, SLOfit Students measurements were mandatory for all children and youth, after which the Personal Data Protection Act was passed, informed parental consent was introduced and in 1999 students’ written consent was incorporated. Although now voluntary, participation rates remained high, over 95% and 75% in the primary (6-to 14-year-olds; ISCED 1 and 2) and upper secondary school population (15-to 19-year-olds; ISCED 3), respectively. All Slovenian primary and upper secondary schools are required by law to monitor the students’ somatic and motor development. The option to have their data centrally analysed and included in the national database must be offered to all students. Parents or students aged 15 and above can revoke consent for personal data in SLOfit at any time via the app or SLOfit school administrator, after which the data will be anonymized within 15 days. They have continuous access to their data, and they can even grant access to their fitness reports to everybody via the special My SLOfit application. Data stored in the My SLOfit application is permanently stored, while other data are automatically pseudonymised a year after the individual ends their education. Pseudonymised data is used for research per the Commission on Ethical Issues in Sport agreement No. 6-2019-539. The National Medical Ethics Committee of the Republic of Slovenia (ID 102/03/15) reviewed and approved this study that involved human participants, following the Declaration of Helsinki. As previously stated, the legal guardian/next of kin provided written informed consent for children to participate in the SLOfit assessment. This means that the present analyses are secondary analyses of only a part of the data already collected through the SLOfit assessments. Hence, we followed all relevant guidelines and regulations while more details on how all the data were treated can be found elsewhere [ ].
