: Ethical clearance was obtained from Jimma University Research and Ethics Review Board (IRB) (Reference No. IHRPGD/550/18) and permission to conduct the study was obtained from Gimbo district Health Bureau. Prior to data collection, informed written consent was obtained from each study participant (guardian/parents in cases of children), and only consenting individuals were included in the study. Confidentiality of an individual’s and household information was maintained during data collection, analysis, and interpretation. All individuals with confirmed malaria cases were treated according to the Ethiopian Malaria Diagnosis and Treatment Guideline [] by the study nurse in collaboration with Gojeb health center.
