: The study was reviewed and approved by the Makerere University School of Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee (MAKSSREC REF 08.2022) and the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST REF No SS1463ES) in accordance with Uganda National Guidelines for Research involving Humans as Research Participants as specified by the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology. These guidelines provide a national system or framework for harnessing the benefits of research while ensuring that rights, interests, values and welfare of research participants are protected. Still, we received clearance from Hoima district, school authorities of Kaiso and Buhirigi, and community leaders before conducting the study. Written informed consent and assent were obtained from study participants using the ethical consent and assent process, and confidentiality of information and privacy was ensured by concealing participants’ identities, conducting sessions in private places, and refraining from asking for information that would compromise participants’ privacy.
