: Entred 3 is a public interest investigation qualified as non-interventional research involving the human person, which received a favorable opinion from the local ethics commitee “Comité de protection des personnes (CPP) Sud Est 1”, on 10/07/2017 (CPP internal reference: 2017–43; RCB ID no.: 2017-A01337-46). The Entred 3 study was designed in compliance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and French law. As far as consent is concerned, French law makes a difference if the research involving human beings is:- interventional (art. L. 1121–1 1° and 2° of French public health code): in this case, the research can only be carried out after having received the participant's informed, written consent (article L. 1122–1-1, first and second paragraphs, French public health code).- or non-interventional (art. L. 1121–1 3° of French public health code): research can only be carried out once the participant has been duly informed and has expressed no opposition (article L. 1122–1-1; third paragraph, French public health code).The Entred 3 study was qualified as non-interventional research. Consent was therefore not required.
