: This study used a dataset available through a data sharing agreement between the Public Health Agency of Canada and Statistics Canada. Consistent with the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans, our use of this dataset did not require research ethics board approval.Participation in the survey was voluntary. Informed consent and assent were obtained from all participants. Respondents aged 12–14 years had to also obtain consent from their parent or guardian to participate. We only had access to data from respondents who agreed to Statistics Canada sharing their responses with other governmental organizations like Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
