: The study was conducted in accordance with generally accepted guidelines for use of human participants in medical experimentation. The Institutional Review Board of Bahir Dar University approved the study. A letter of permission to conduct the study was obtained from the Amhara Regional Health Bureau, West Gojjam Zone, and district and Kebele administrators. Informed written consent (fingerprint for adults who couldn’t read and write) was secured from the study participants after we provided adequate information in local language about the study objectives, benefits and possible risks, the right of withdrawing from participating in this study, and confidentiality related issues. Confidentiality was maintained by excluding personal identifiers from the data collection form and keeping the data in a locked board. The intervention was registered in Trial gov.com (NCT06639412) and the protocol was submitted as a supplementary file.
