: It has been ethically approved by the MakSPH Higher Degrees, Research and Ethics Committee and from the National Council for Science and Technology in Uganda (SPH-2022-334, 16.08.2023). Additionally, the Regional Committees for Medical and Health Research in Norway approved the project (Ref. 655421). Informed written consent was collected from all participants in the current study. The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Caregivers also approved of their child’s participation, and children were given an assent form with age-appropriate information. As data collection was done outside regular working days in schools, both teachers and caregivers were given 5000 UGX (1.3 USD) for transport refund.
