: The trial was approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Baylor University (Ref# 2217862), Ghana Health Service (Ref# GHS-ERC 015/09/24) and Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (Ref# CCTHERC/EC/2024/138). All eligible participants are enrolled under a waiver of informed consent to minimize participation bias. Participants will sign an informed consent form before participating in the study. The study protocol was approved by the Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) of Baylor University and Cape Coast Teaching Hospital to ensure ethical compliance. Cape Coast Teaching Hospital administrators also granted approval to conduct the study at their facility.The trial is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT06800664), providing public access to key study details. The trial follows the established Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials (SPIRIT) checklist for accurate documentation and dissemination of findings. The SPIRIT checklist for RCT reporting is included in Additional File 1. Protocol amendments will be submitted for review and approval by the IRBs. If relevant, approved modifications are updated in the trial registry.
