: Ethical approval was obtained from the Committee for Human Research and Publication Ethics (CHRPE) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ref: CHRPE/AP/1282/24). Study site approval was also obtained from the Ghana Education Service in the Obuasi East Municipality. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants before data collection (Additional file 2). Assent forms were not required as none of the participants were minors. The study was carried out in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration and the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) [ ]. Participants were assured that all data collected would be kept confidential and used solely for this study.
