: Ethical approval for conducting the study was obtained from the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences Institutional Review Board (MUHAS-REC-02-2024-2015). Permission for conducting the study in Kilimanjaro was obtained from the Regional Administrative Secretary. The study participants were provided with necessary information about the study, and written informed consent was obtained from all perinatal women aged 18 years and older, adolescents between 15-17 yrs. written informed consent was obtained from their parents/guardians and assent was sought for their participation. Those who refused to participate were excluded. The confidentiality of the study participants was protected by the use of an identification number, and information was only accessible by the researchers. The study adhered to the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki, and all data were handled in accordance with standard ethical guidelines.
