: The ethical approval for this study was obtained from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (29405) and the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (IRB/23/027). The study followed the Declaration of Helsinki regulations. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants. For women who had no formal education and could not write, the option was given to make a mark or put their thumbprints to indicate consent. All participants were provided with an information sheet about cervical cancer after the survey.
