: The study adhered to the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki - Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Participants. Ethical approval was obtained from the Research and Ethics Committee, College of Nursing, Sultan Qaboos University (CON/EA/33/2019). Approval to conduct the study was also obtained from the Ministry of Education, Sultanate of Oman (registration number: 282051365). Permission was obtained from school administrators in the selected schools. Parents of children diagnosed with asthma were identified using school health registers; where registers were unavailable, identification was supported by school administrators. The research information sheet along with an informed consent form was sent to the parents through their children. Further explanation about the study and the participant rights was provided to parents by the trained research assistant over the telephone. After obtaining written informed consent from the parents who voluntarily consented to participate, the children with bronchial asthma were approached and they were informed on purpose of the research and how they should answer the data collection instruments. The investigators obtained assent from the schoolchildren with asthma before administering the data collection instruments. The data collection process did not affect the routine of the children. The research assistants collected the completed data collection forms and kept it in a sealed envelope. Thereafter, the envelops were handed over to the principal investigator (PI). The collected data collection forms were kept in a locked cupboard in the office of the PI.
