The HHS regulations for the protection of human subjects in research at 45CFR 46 include five subparts: Subpart A, also known as the Common Rule, provides a robust set of protections for research subjects; subparts B, C, and D provide additional protections for certain populations in research; and subpart E provides requirements for IRB registration. The University of Washington Institutional review Board determined the study qualifies for exempt status (IRB#: STUDY00011837). Participants provided audio recorded verbal consent.All human subjects in this study were informed of the study’s purpose, that their participation was voluntary, anonymous, that their data would be protected, and that they could leave the study at any time. Participants received informed consent information prior to participation and gave informed consent at the time of the interview.
