: The German Ageing Survey (DEAS) is conducted by the German Centre of Gerontology (DZA) and adheres to German law and the ethical standards of the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its later amendments. All participants provided informed consent prior to participation in the survey. The current study is based on secondary analysis of anonymized data from the DEAS, which is made publicly available for scientific use via the Research Data Centre of the German Centre of Gerontology (FDZ-DZA). Ethical approval for this secondary analysis was not required as the study exclusively used anonymized, publicly available data.
