Ethics approval and consent to participate: This study was a retrospective population-based observational study using anonymized routine surveillance data of influenza cases and ambient air pollution monitoring data. No individual identifiable private information was involved. All procedures performed in studies involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki Declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards.Ethical approval and informed consent were waived by the Ethics Committee of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Center for Disease Control and Prevention (approval reference number: [XJBTCDC2026002]), because the study used anonymized secondary data and did not involve interventions on human subjects or access to personal identifiers.
