Ethics approval and consent to participate
: All research procedures were approved by Comité Nacional de Bioética para Saúde (CNBS), in Mozambique, with the reference 274/CNBS/13 and the Ethics Commission of the Medical Faculty at LMU, in Germany. Each study participant and healthy volunteer provided written consent prior enrolment. In the case of illiterate subjects an impartial witness observed the consent process as recommended by CNBS.
