: This study was conducted according to the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Research (2007, updated 2018). The project, titled “Effect of pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) in reducing mortality rate in patients with chronic respiratory disease” (Project Number: Audit/21/Austin/97), was reviewed and approved by the Austin Health Office for Research. It was determined that this project constitutes a clinical audit and does not require submission to the Austin Health Human Research Ethics Committee. The approval for this audit was granted on October 29, 2021, signed by Heidi Gaulke, Manager of the Office for Research, Austin Health.
: This study was a retrospective analysis using data collected over 20 years ago. All data were fully anonymized and de-identified prior to analysis to ensure the participants’ privacy and confidentiality. Therefore, written informed consent for publication was not obtained as it was not required for this type of study.
