: <b>Maliheh Ghaneei</b> was admitted as an M.Sc. student in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of Alberta in 2016. Her current research interests include scoliosis, surface topography, and neural network.<b>Dr. Amin Komeili</b> developed the original 3D asymmetry analysis of the torso in his PhD study. He published four journal papers with an emphasis on spine deformity and surface topography.<b>Dr. Yong Li</b>, holding his Ph.D. degree in structural engineering and his M.A. degree in applied mathematics from UC San Diego, is active in research on probabilistic methods, statistical modeling & learning, reliability & risk analysis.<b>Dr. Eric Parent</b> is Associate Professor of Physical Therapy, in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Science at University of Alberta. His physiotherapy and M.Sc. degrees were completed at Université Laval and his Ph.D. at University of Alberta.<b>Dr. Samer Adeeb</b> finished his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering / Biomechanics and joined the Structures Group at the University of Alberta in 2007. His research is the study of the variation of the healthy anatomy of musculoskeletal components.

: The University of Alberta Health Research Ethics Review Board approved consent being obtained from participants of 14 years and over demonstrating adequate understanding of the study as judged by the researcher obtaining consent. This is consistent with the local regulations and recommended interpretation of the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS 2 2014).

: Data presented from individual is entirely unidentifiable and there are no details on individuals reported within the manuscript, therefore consent for publication of images was not required.
