Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The present project was developed in the framework of the Catalan Arthroplasty Register (RACat). Given that the data used to address this study’s objectives belong to a public health registry, the RACat, which is part of the Catalan Health System, ethical approval and informed consent were unnecessary. To guarantee patient confidentiality, as required by the current Spanish and European regulations on data protection, the data were anonymized and continuously monitored by the RACat’s steering committee. This committee is composed of experts from the orthopedic surgery services of various hospitals involved in the data collection, the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut), the Catalan Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SCCOT), and the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS).
